Share your music in your community

December 26, 2018 By

Instructor: Elaine Malkin

I will teach choosing the repertoire, how to begin a tune strongly, and how to deal with any difficulty that might arise.

Most people love to hear live music. They are non-judgmental and very accepting of any effort – be that of an advanced beginner or an expert player. Life in a nursing home is extremely limited. Activities are few and far between, so even if you only know 3 tunes well, volunteer, play your tunes, and brighten up someone’s day!

Another volunteer possibility is to ask to visit a pre-school, or an elementary school. Play a few tunes, explain how the bow is horsehair and with some rosin gets the violin strings vibrating to make the sound.
